17th parallel
The 17th parallel served as a military demarcation line between North and South Vietnam as a result of the Geneva Accords of 1954. The border ran closely to the Bến Hải River from the Gulf of Tonkin to the border of Laos and Vietnam. The demarcation line was rendered irrelevant after the defeat of the South Vietnamese government in 1975.15 Records
